Recommended product but with the above-cited caveats.
After cleaning windows and wiping with alcohol per the instructions, the tape stuck well.
Used it in my windows and haven't really noticed a difference.
This tape is pretty good stuff. One of our windows doesn't have the best seal and let in a really nasty draft. I applied this tape to the window and the draft improved significantly. Will it work miracles and create an air tight seal that keeps out all of the cold air? Nope. But it helps quite a bit. It no longer feels like an open freezer behind our couch. The tape itself is very interesting. It's made of a thicker plastic. The only way I know how to describe the material is that it feels like those plastic decals you lick and slap on glass. As far as the adhesive goes, I think the stuff is pretty good. It's strong enough that it adheres to the window well, but not so strong that when you peel it off it takes paint with it or leaves residue behind. My one complaint is that there isn't very much tape. If it were a larger roll I probably would have tried it in every window in my house to see if it made a difference in my power bill.
If you have a few small places where warm air leaks out of your home in the winter, this tape serves as a temporary solution i.e. put it on in the fall - remove it in the spring. Simple as that. Used it around windows and felt like they were less drafty. Strictly for indoor use.
This is a great tape. Much better than foam insulation or others. It fills the cracks and reduces the drafts and noise from busy streets... a cheap solution for city windows...
Note: I've since tried just some regular packing tape, which I thought might be nearly as this as this stuff. However, I must say that the 3M did a much better job. I'll still probably try the other brand of window tape that I've seen, but I'll probably get 3 rolls of this and one of that. This 3M tape is vastly better to work with and does a better job than the packing tape. Original review below. I've taped 2 and a half windows (using 2 rolls of tape), and it's been a huge improvement. My girlfriend lives in an old apartment and the windows are fairly leaky, including one that doesn't close properly, rollers for counter-weights, and other areas that leak quite dramatically. I spent around 3 hours cleaning and then taping the 3 windows in her livingroom, and there's a huge difference. Before, the heat would struggle to keep it at 68 in here, taking hours to get from 65 to 68. After I completed the taping and put the transparent window covering over them, it's 70. However, if I were to do it again I'd probably try one of the other brands. They have 3 times the tape for around $7.50. I'd say this 10 yard roll does basically a window, 30 feet sounds like a lot but once you start taping all the cracks it goes fast. I've seen 2 other brands that come in 100 foot rolls, so I'd probably try them next time I need to do this. But the 3M product does a very nice job, no doubt about it.
This works! My parents' house has drafty windows- the window frames are actually warped, and do not fit flush against the house. As a temporary winter fix, I taped those parts shut in our laundry room (a 4x9 room with two 3x4 windows) and we've noticed a decent change. I've started covering up other frames, but we're now out of tape. Wish there was more per roll. The tape is very thick, and does not come with a cutter- you need to slice them with scissors (don't try tearing) It is easy to apply and reapply, but catches fingerprints easily. Will update at the end of winter about the ease of peeling off this tape!
I've used weather stripping and window insulation kits for my poor-quality, super-drafty windows for the last few years (Any heat that comes out of my baseboard basically goes straight out the panes and cracks). The 3M Weather Sealing tape is much better quality and more effective than either of the previous products I used (Home Depot and Lowe's generic brands). Having had them on my windows for the last few months, the amount of heat kept in by sealing the windows with this product has really helped me to keep from freezing inside during the winter. Also, compared to the generic plastic, this one was much less tear-prone (once you have even a small tear in the insulation plastic, its basically useless). The tape has also remained adhesive throughout. No, it can't replace those new windows I badly need, but in the meantime it does a decent job of keeping cold air from coming through my window panes.
This was a quick installation, and the alcohol really helps the product stick. It didn't quite do enough for our most drafty window, but for the majority, it made quite a difference. This was an economical solution for us for one season until we replace our windows. **UPDATE**- I removed the tape on the windows we needed to open to install our air conditioner units in, and even though I used a blow dryer to loosen the adhesive, it removed most of the paint it had come in contact with. I definitely would not use this again. Downgrade to 2 stars.
This high quality, easy to use product probably paid for itself in less than 2 weeks. The heavy guage material is simple to trim & install in minutes. The adhesive is very strong, yet until you burnish it down, it's rather easy to re-position into final placement. Have an air leak - Get This Item!

I ordered this on accident. I thought I was ordering double-sided tape for putting up plastic to protect our house against brutal Western New York winters.

Its OK. Thought it would be a little thicker than packing tape. As soon as I put it on my sliding door the temp in the region warmed up for a bit.

way too difficult to use- its like using packaging tape on ur windows
Perfect to block out any draft and create a nice bumper. This is our first winter in Korea and this has been a godsend.
Works like it's supposed to. Haven't taken it down yet, so I don't know if it peels off paint.
Easy to install. Stop air from leaking from cracks in the window. Sticky enough to hold, but it can be easily removed.
This tape is very high quality and has made a clear impact on the amount of excess air leaking into my apartment this winter; however, the rolls are comically small and run out...

This stuff works great! Very sticky, but not so much that we can't take it off our windows.
